Nike football equipment donation fund to support local schools

An Oregon football equipment company has donated $1 million to support the local schools, the Portland State University announced Wednesday.

In addition, the company will donate $250,000 of the total $1.5 million it pledged to the school.

The Oregon Football Equipment and Sports Foundation will receive $250 million in public funding from the state to support school football programs, including high school, college and professional football.

The funds will be used to support scholarships and other support programs, the university said in a news release.

Oregon is the first school to accept donations for its football equipment since it began accepting donations in 2016.

Last fall, the school announced a $1,000 donation toward the purchase of uniforms for each student in the district, a program that will last through the 2021 season.

In October, the Oregon Ducks signed a two-year contract with Nike, which will help them develop a new uniform for the 2020 season.
